The Murder Complex is a bloody, dual POV, futuristic, coming of age, thrilling, YA dystopian novel (That was a mouthful) about fifteen year old Meadow Woodson, a girl who is tough and a force to be reckoned with. Meadow lives on a houseboat with her father, brother and sister. In the walled city that Meadow lives in when an individual turns sixteen they have to go into the city and fight for a job. Literally till the death. Meadow wins the right to have a much needed job in the city and while there she meets Zephyr James, a guy with a dark secret that even he doesn’t know about!

The story is about the two of them and this program called The Murder Complex where programmed assassins kill in order to keep the population under control. There is a huge family shocker, lots of feels and you can’t help but ship Zeadow! This book is not for the squeamish because when Goodreads said “blood-soaked” they weren’t kidding. Both Meadow and Zephyr kill throughout the book and it is just a part of surviving in their world. Although it is gritty and riddled with murder this book is a must read for fans of Divergent and The Maze Runner and has become one of my personal favorites this year!

THE FEELS:

This book is on the edgy side and doesn’t have as many emotional elements as some other books.

Violence:

The title alone should tell you. This book is full of violence but it’s the kind that you keep reading and look past it because the story has pulled you in!

Sexual content:

There are some minor elements like kisses but that is all.

Crude language:

Minor curse words are used such as “damn” and “hell” also there are made up slang words but no major curse words that you wouldn’t normally hear.

Other elements:

The only thing I can say here is that there is a lot of violence. So if your kid is prone to go crazy and try to be like the fictional characters then this probably isn't the best book to let them read... Keep in mind that it IS just fiction and no one is actually getting murdered here.

Overall:

Over all for mature teens and adults this is a good read. It is really well written and the chapters flow easily between POV shifts!
